The main destinations for livestock products and byproducts from producers and distributors in the coastal region of the state are Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Jalisco, reported the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER).
The head of the SADER office in Baja California, José Antonio Ramírez Gómez, added that from January to date, 352 notifications have been processed for the movement of products and byproducts of animal origin, primarily poultry.
Of these notifications, 318 have been for the movement of 277,830 kilograms of various byproducts, including boneless chicken meat, processed meats (bologna, sausages, among others), table eggs, and occasionally duck meat.
Baja California Sur is the main destination for these byproducts, according to Fernando Sánchez Galicia, head of Rural Development District 001, Coastal Zone (DDR 001), which includes the municipalities of Tecate, Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, Ensenada, and San Quintín.
In addition, during this same period, 34 permits were requested for the transport of 55,020 head of live animals, primarily poultry (chicks and chicks approximately one week old), which were sent to Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Jalisco.
Ramírez Gómez clarified that the movement of all these livestock products and byproducts generated from January to the first week of November has been carried out in accordance with the regulations established by the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety, and Quality (Senasica), which also includes completing the required documentation.
