Without giving further explanations, the Guadalajara Autodrome announced its definitive closure after 30 years.
Through a statement signed by Mario Alberto Álvarez, manager of the Autódromo de Guadalajara, and Gilberto Jiménez from FJO Deportes, the categorical closure of the track was reported for no apparent reason; It was used to thank the people who made possible the shows that were held at the venue for more than three decades.
“We inform that today marks the beginning of the closing of a significant chapter in our history. In the year 2023, the Autódromo Guadalajara concludes its cycle, saying goodbye with gratitude and joy to motor sport activities.”
“We want to express our sincere gratitude to our friends, fans, drivers, staff, track officials, mechanics, sponsors, doctors, Automobile Federation, Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as the municipal authorities of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, and the public in general. It has been a privilege to coincide on this path full of adrenaline, where emotions such as passion and outbursts intertwine in milliseconds.”
Likewise, they assured that being part of motorsports was an honor, handing over the baton so that this sport can continue to be promoted in our state.
“Being part of this community for 30 years has been an honor, allowing us to promote motor sport and witnessing the emergence of new talents in this discipline. We are proud to have contributed to the training of professional drivers in various modalities. Now it is the turn of you to promote this beautiful motor sport and proudly carry the name of Jalisco to all the tracks,” the letter could be read.
The Autódromo de Guadalajara, which was located in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga since its inception, experienced the 2023 Super Cup Grand Prix as its last event held, taking place on March 23.
