Concerts, pastorelas, Noche buena flower sales and lights will accompany residents and visitors of Mexico City this December. Find out dates and times of free events.
If this December you will spend the Christmas season in Mexico City, there are several options with which you can celebrate for free.
To start, this Saturday, December 9, the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the Zócalo at 6:00 p.m., with Enrique Patrón as guest conductor. They will perform classics such as ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, as well as ‘A Christmas Festival’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’ by Leroy Anderson.
From Saturday, December 16 to Saturday, December 30, the Christmas Festival will be open to the public, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., in which there will be a Christmas Village with skill games and a bookstore from the Economic Culture Fund, as well as concerts. free from 6:00 p.m. and pastorelas until December 24.

At the Christmas Verbena, visitors will also be able to see monumental trees formed with Noche buena flowers and three illuminated areas where photographs can be taken.
The Zócalo will be decorated with 8,000 LED lights and 3,000 meters of garland with four monumental groups in the City Hall Palace, the City Government building and the Mercaderes y Joyeros building; a three-dimensional decoration at the intersection of 20 de Noviembre; Paseo de la Reforma will also be illuminated with two luminous mosaics, one at the Ángel de la Independencia and another at the intersection with Insurgentes.
On December 24, the festival will be at 11:00 a.m. and there will be music on the main stage from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; while on December 25 there will be no activities.
To bring the tradition home, the Noche buena Flower Festival will be held until December 17 on Paseo de la Reforma, between the Estela de Luz and the Glorieta de la Fuente de la Diana Cazadora, where they will offer Christmas flowers, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., 140 producers from Xochimilco, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac and other municipalities in the capital.
