QUERÉTARO.–A merchant was shot to death inside the Querétaro supply center, located in the vicinity of the Plazas del Sol neighborhood.

A video recorded the moment in which two subjects, dressed in black and covered with motorcycle helmets, approach the merchant who was wearing a hat and who was in the unloading area of the market.

One of the murderers shoots him in the back and the merchant collapses.

The two attackers continue to fire their weapons.

The images record that at least four people, all dressed in black and wearing helmets, are running in a line.

In about six seconds the murderers carried out the execution and began to flee.

The video is timed at 10 in the morning and 22 minutes, on Saturday, May 4.

The first message from the Querétaro Municipal Public Security Secretariat was until 11:19 in the morning, to report that they were searching for those “probably responsible.”

“The search is underway for those likely responsible for causing the death of a person in the vicinity of the Plazas del Sol neighborhood.”

The second part of the message from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat of Querétaro, which Juan Luis Ferrusca Ortiz has headed for 8 years, April 2016, says:

“Police from this department carry out the first responder protocol, while the corresponding authority executes the procedures that allow us to know the causes of death and identity of the person.”

Inside the Querétaro supply center there are private security personnel and outside, the government has installed surveillance cameras.

According to journalistic sources, the murdered merchant had an avocado warehouse and was nicknamed “El Camarón.”

The newspaper La Jornada claimed, like other people who own warehouses in the Querétaro supply center, the merchant had been threatened to pay extortion or a flat fee.

However, the Querétaro Prosecutor’s Office, headed since 2016 by Alejandro Echeverría Cornejo, has not issued information regarding this murder inside this trading center.

Regarding the crime of extortion, according to the information collected by the Secretariat from complaints from state prosecutors’ offices, from January to March there were 51 records in Querétaro, 5 more than in the first quarter of 2023.

Journalist colleagues who covered these events in Querétaro accused that personnel from the Querétaro Municipal Police forced them to hand over the password to their cell phones to delete photos and videos that they had recorded of the event.

They also spread that private security personnel from the supply center intimidated them.

The page of the “Central de Abastos de Querétaro” has not spread anything regarding the murder or what happened to the press colleagues.

On March 15, that page published a photo of its representatives in a meeting with the mayor of Querétaro, Luis Bernardo Nava Guerrero, who was portrayed smiling.
