Tulum Airport Launches United Flight from Los Angeles

Last week, United Airlines inaugurated its inaugural flight from Los Angeles to Tulum, landing at Tulum’s airport. This new seasonal route, operating during the summer, it will have daily flights using Boeing 737 aircraft. The first plane arrived last Thursday at the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport in Tulum.

The addition of this route is part of the efforts by the State Tourism Secretariat (Sedetur) and the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) to enhance air connectivity in the Mexican Caribbean. Jorge Molina, Director of Tourism and Economy for the Tulum Municipality, emphasized that this new flight will diversify the tourist markets for this popular destination.

With this new connection, United Airlines now operates four routes to Tulum. Previously, they linked Tulum with Houston, Newark, and Chicago. When combined with the Los Angeles-Tulum flight, there are now a total of 28 weekly frequencies.

Thanks to United Airlines’ new route, Tulum’s airport now offers up to 16 daily flights to various destinations within Mexico and the United States. These destinations include Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Newark, Charlotte, and Los Angeles.

As reported by REPORTUR.mx, in November 2023, United joined Delta and American in announcing flights to the new Tulum airport from Newark, New York; Houston; and Chicago, operating a total of 22 weekly flights. (United joins Delta and American with 22 weekly flights to Tulum).
