A severe accident occurred on the Mexico-Puebla highway at kilometer 45, heading toward Mexico City.
On the morning of Friday, May 31, an out-of-control trailer collided with several vehicles due to brake failure while traveling from Puebla to Mexico City.
The incident happened on the Mexico-Puebla highway at kilometer 45, heading toward Mexico City. Due to emergency operations, traffic was affected for several hours.
A sugar-laden trailer lost its brakes and rammed into multiple vehicles, resulting in significant material losses, two deaths, and four injuries.
Preliminarily, it is known that the trailer collided with a van, dragging it to the containment wall where it caught on fire. Meanwhile, the trailer’s cargo box impacted more private vehicles and a moving truck.
The swift response of other drivers, who alerted emergency services, allowed for prompt assistance to the affected individuals.
Various emergency teams arrived at the scene, attending to the four injured individuals, one of whom had to be transported to the Magdalena de las Salinas hospital. Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office conducted the body retrieval.
The severity of the incident necessitated the complete closure of the Mexico-Puebla highway in both directions while the cleanup and removal of the wrecked vehicles took place, once again highlighting the importance of inspecting our vehicles before hitting the road.
