Alfredo Soto Martínez, delegate of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) in Tulum, demands that future local deputies regulate Airbnb-type vacation rentals, which he considers a “monster” and unfair competition for the hotel sector.
Although the new Tulum airport has increased flights, Soto Martínez points out that vacation rentals are an enemy to be defeated. He mentions that they must go to the polls to elect the legislators with whom they will work hand in hand to regulate this phenomenon.
The Coparmex representative indicates that the deputies and municipal presidents will have to work so that the state’s economy does not have ups and downs, generating income throughout the year and not just six months. He believes that this election will mark a “before and after” in the life of Mexico.
Soto Martínez affirms that the business sector is giving facilities to its collaborators so that they go to vote and join their jobs later. He points out that they are now more interested in ensuring that they fulfil their civic duty, since without civic duty and responsibility there will be no tourism in the future.
