A total of six people were injured in a spectacular accident involving a Del Valle bus from Cancun, which ended up on the side of the road after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
This traffic accident occurred this morning near the town of Leona Vicario, on the El Tintal-Valladolid highway.
Unofficial information indicates that the driver fell asleep at the wheel, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and end up in the undergrowth, finally crashing into a tree.
The spectacular crash left six people injured, including the driver who ended up unconscious in serious condition. The other victims of the accident had moderate injuries, so they were also taken to a hospital aboard several ambulances.
Eighty percent of the uninjured crew continued their trip to Chichén Itzá, while the rest decided to return to Cancun.
Civil Protection personnel and police authorities also attended the scene to carry out the corresponding procedures, including the required expert appraisal.
