Kia’s new affordable electric vehicle (EV), the EV3, is set to hit the US market, taking advantage of the federal electric vehicle tax credit. The company plans to build the EV3 in Mexico, with a starting price of around $30,000.
The EV3 was introduced by Kia during its 2023 EV Day as part of a new lineup of affordable electric vehicles. With a starting price of approximately $30,700 (KRW 42.08 million) in Korea, the EV3 is Kia’s third all-electric vehicle and the first of a new series.
The EV3 features an advanced electric powertrain, bold design, and innovative technology, including Kia’s new “Tiger Face” grille, which provides a modern take on its signature Tiger Nose design. The vehicle has up to 373 miles (600 km) of WLTP driving range and fast charging capabilities (10% to 80% in 31 minutes).
Kia’s president and CEO, Ho Sung Song, believes that the EV3 “e” (KRW 42.08 million) will reassure those who may have been hesitant to make the switch to electric mobility and will lead the mass adoption of EVs.
The vehicle’s interior is loaded with the latest software and connectivity technology, including Kia’ s next-gen Connected Car Navigation Cockpit with dual 12.3″ screens and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support.
Although the EV3 is smaller than the EV9, it is also more affordable, starting at around $30,000 to $35,000, making it one of the most affordable EVs in the US market.
