Discovery of a tepary more than 100 years old confirmed in Michoacán

With the partial drought of Lake Pátzcuaro, invaluable treasures have emerged, including a tepary, what we know as a boat, larger than the one kept in the National Museum of Anthropology, said the archaeologist responsible for the investigations, José Luis Punzo Díaz.

There are numerous objects found in the area between Janitzio and Jeráhuaro, but this is one of the first located and there are already 10 tepary located during the siltation and exploration work of the neighbors.

“Since the beginning of May, they notified us that they had begun to find a large boat, a tepary, which was extremely large. It is 14 meters and 80 centimeters. It is very, very large. The one in the National Museum of Anthropology is 11 meters,” said the specialist.
