What is the difference between paste and empanada?
Before giving you all the details about the 2024 Paste Festival, it is important to make known the difference between an empanada and this typical Mexican dish, which arrived in our country many years ago.
According to some gastronomic portals, the paste was “born” in the mines of Pachuca and Real del Monte in Hidalgo with the need for miners several decades ago to have a food high in protein, that would not get dirty when eating and that was easy to make at home.
It is noted that the paste was initially born with a filling of meat and potato, hence the name “miner’s paste”. For its part, the traditional shape of the braid on the edge of this dish was created so that the mine workers could hold their food from there to avoid dirtying it.
When and where is the 2024 Paste Festival?
Regarding the dates set for the 2024 Paste Festival, it was announced that this event will take place in Real del Monte, Hidalgo, from October 11 to 13 of this year, so there is enough time to plan your visit.
It is worth mentioning that this will be the 16th edition of this festival, which brings together English traditions (where the paste comes from), as well as Mexican ones.
What will be at the 2024 Paste Festival?
It is important to report that it was announced that in this year’s edition, the largest paste in the world will be created, in addition to dozens of traditional exponents of this dish in Mexico.
Likewise, the 2024 Paste Festival will feature classic dishes such as the minero (meat with potato), beans and sausage, as well as some exotic ones that will help elevate the flavor of this iconic Hidalgo food.
