With summer vacations just days away, demand for travel packages has increased by 90% in Guanajuato, with Puerto Vallarta and Guayabitos being the most popular destinations.
This was announced by the president of the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV) Guanajuato chapter, Sergio Muñoz Martínez, who indicated that, although it is a good percentage, it is well below the figures of the previous year, when sales had already doubled.
“There is no over-selling compared to other seasons, obviously sales are not the same as during Holy Week, obviously there is movement, compared to last year we will be at 90% on average,” he said.
He added that the difficult economic situation of families is what has led to a lower demand for vacation packages this year by Guanajuato families.
“Economic situation, political issues, because they are already waiting for the economy to be blocked and with no cash flow people are limited in terms of vacations,” he said.
He also said that they expect that in the next few weeks there may still be a small increase in demand for vacation packages by those who decide at the last minute.
