A new massacre was recorded in Guanajuato after a group of subjects in Pénjamo murdered two minors – among them, a 10-year-old girl – and two young men with high-powered weapons, and then escaped without being identified while a children’s party was ending in the municipality of Pénjamo.
In the last few hours, 12 people have been killed, confirmed the Guanajuato prosecutor’s office, five of them in the municipality of Pénjamo.
According to testimonies that neighbors gave to the police, the events took place in a house on Fresa Street, in the Los Fresnos II neighborhood, at around midnight, between the streets of Limón and Sandía.
Since the afternoon they were holding a children’s party where there was music and several of the guests left as the night progressed.
At midnight they heard several subjects arrive in a truck and then several bursts of gunshots were heard.
When the owner of the house was informed of the events, she returned to find out what had happened and found four people lying in the living room.
There she noticed that her two children, Marco Antonio, 20 years old, and Zoe, 10 years old, were there. She tried to revive them, but when the Red Cross paramedics arrived, they no longer had vital signs.
The other two victims were identified as Diana, 25, and Fabián, 17 years old, who were left dead next to the two brothers.
Agents from the Guanajuato prosecutor’s office from the agency specialized in homicides began the integration of a preliminary investigation, but until yesterday the motive for the attack had not been officially reported.
Neighbors reported that despite the fact that there are facilities of the Public Security Secretariat a street away, the police took more than 15 minutes to arrive. The area was cordoned off by the Army and the National Guard.
