On Sunday morning, July 14, residents of the Corales de Cancún neighborhood mobilized after the kidnapping of a minor aged between 10 and 11 years old. The girl was found naked and tied with her hands behind her back in an area with dense vegetation, and the perpetrator had already been identified.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am when the suspect arrived at the girl’s home in Building 77 on the main street of the neighborhood, where he forcibly took her from her bedroom and put her into a gray Aveo car to flee. However, the criminal was unaware that his movements were being recorded by security cameras owned by neighbors, who noticed the incident and spread the video on social media to enlist more people in the rescue efforts.

The residents called 911 to report the kidnapping of a minor aged between 10 and 11 years old, as the cameras captured the moment when a robust man wearing a light-colored shirt and a pink swimsuit took the girl from the building and put her into a car.

With this information and with neighbors who joined the search effort, elements from the Ministry of Public Security and the Navy carried out an operation to track down the area.

Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect, realizing he was being cornered, abandoned the minor in a green area, naked and tied with her hands behind her back.

How was the kidnapper caught?

He was captured around 11:00 am when authorities located the vehicle where the girl had been taken, on Calle 2 Sur between 84 and 22, in the same Corales neighborhood. Inside the car, he was found by police agents who closed off the area, took him down from the car, detained him, and transported him to the Public Security Ministry to be handed over to the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office.

A medical unit then arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the minor, who was taken to a hospital in the city for further medical evaluation. The girl’s current health status remains unknown.

The suspect has been identified as an employee of Cancun General Hospital on social media, but it will be official confirmation from authorities.
