The Yucatán Potable Water and Sewerage Board (JAPAY) reported through its official channels that a potable water leak caused these neighborhoods to be without water supply on Thursday.

JAPAY revealed that repair work is underway for a leak in a 30-inch pipeline located along the Periférico ring road in Mérida, specifically at kilometer 41 between 5-I and 5-B streets in the Juan Pablo II area.

‘Mérida IV Plant suspended its operation, affecting the pumping stations in Ciudad Caucel, Chenkú, and El Enlace in the city of Mérida. As a result, approximately 30 neighborhoods and residential areas experienced low water pressure or a complete lack of potable water supply,’ stated the agency.

The duration of the repair work has not been specified. Some of the affected neighborhoods and residential developments include Ciudad Caucel, Cordemex, Jardines Lindavista, Tecnológico, Xoclán, Pensiones, Sodzil, Plany de Ayala, Chenkú, among others.
