SSP arrests three alleged kidnappers in Mérida

The Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that three alleged kidnappers were arrested this Saturday in Mérida. They operated out of Quintana Roo and had kidnapped a minor in Cancún.

With the arrest of this gang, it was possible to rescue a 16-year-old teenager who had been kidnapped in Cancún days earlier.

The State Investigation Police (PEI) and the Attorney General’s Office of Yucatán, in collaboration with authorities from Quintana Roo, arrested Erick Fernando L. P., José Armando I. G. (alias Muletas), and Fernando José H. de la C. The individuals, originally from Yucatán, Campeche, and Tabasco, are between 25 and 33 years old.

The three men were arrested in eastern Mérida while traveling in a white Audi car with Morelos state plates, owned by the minor’s father.

Upon investigating their identities, it was discovered that they had outstanding arrest warrants in Quintana Roo for aggravated kidnapping.

The location and capture of the alleged kidnappers, as well as the rescue of the teenager in a property in Cancún where he was being held captive, was the result of coordinated work by preventive and investigative police of the SSP, the C5i Control Center through the monitoring and video surveillance system, and ministerial agents of the FGE, in collaboration with the authorities of Quintana Roo.

The joint operation allowed the rescue of the teenager, who was safely returned to his parents, while the detainees were placed at the disposal of a control judge in Quintana Roo.
