Man Dies of a Gunshot to the Head in Mérida

A man decided to take his own life with a firearm beside the terrace of his house in the Villas de Ciudad Caucel subdivision in Mérida.

A man identified as Alejandro V. died in the Villas de Ciudad Caucel subdivision in Mérida after shooting himself in the head.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 35th Street with 92nd and 94th Streets in the mentioned subdivision, after neighbors reported a gunshot at a residence.

Upon going outside, they observed a man, a neighbor from the area, lying beside the terrace of the house where he lived, with the gun he used to take his life next to him.

Elements of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) and paramedics arrived at the scene, where they only confirmed the death of the 69-year-old man.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrived at the scene for investigations, while the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) proceeded with the removal of the body.

Family members also arrived at the scene, who indicated that the man presumably decided to take the fatal decision due to suffering from a terminal illness.
