President announces inauguration of Tepic-Compostela section and Puerto Vallarta bypass before ending his term

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador led the meeting to evaluate priority and infrastructure projects in Nayarit on Sunday, where he announced the inauguration of the Tepic-Compostela section and the bypass to Puerto Vallarta, as well as the Boca de Chila Naval Base, before concluding his six-year term.

Accompanied by representatives of the Mota-Engil Latin America company, he indicated that the opening of these road works is part of the agreement signed with the construction company. The president will return to the state between September 29 and 30 for the opening ceremony, dates on which he will also visit the Islas Marías tourist complex.

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, explained that the Guadalajara-Vallarta axis will be complete after the conclusion of the section and the bypass, belonging to the system of three highways: Tepic-Compostela, Compostela-Las Varas and Las Varas-Puerto Vallarta. Overall, this project has a goal of 212 kilometers, of which 151 kilometers are operational. The great work will reduce the travel time from 5 hours to an hour and a half.

The agency is also building and modernizing the Tepic International Airport through financing of 4,132 million pesos, which will improve connectivity between national and international destinations with a capacity of 4 million passengers per year. The Mexican State will maintain the management of the airport and there are talks so that 19 national and international airlines participate.

Development and welfare actions advance for the benefit of the people of Nayarit
In the City of Indigenous Arts, members of the Cabinet of the Government of Mexico presented the progress report of the Justice Plan in Nayarit, the construction of labor roads, urban development actions, the buildings of the Alejandro Gascón Mercado irrigation district, the IMSS Bienestar General Hospital and works in Boca de Chila, in addition to results in the Islas Marías tourist complex.

In the Justice Plan for the Wixárika, Náayeri, O’dam and Mexikan Peoples, a total of 1,363 million pesos were invested in actions to preserve sacred places, culture, language and identity; electrification works, roads, housing and community infrastructure, health and traditional medicine, drinking water and sanitation.

The construction of five artisanal roads is underway, a result of the Justice Plan signed by the Chief Executive, with an investment of 284.20 million pesos; the overall progress is 97 percent. The works in progress will be completed at the end of this month based on training courses given among the communities.

The sections attended to are: Texcalame to Zoquipan, a length of 65 kilometers; Mesa del Nayar to Santa Teresa, 62.8 kilometers; Aguapán to Jesús María, 139 kilometers; Huajicori to San Andrés Milpillas, 41.8 kilometers and El Arrayán to Santa Cruz de Acaponeta, 24.5 kilometers.

The president reiterated that the native peoples of the state “are the most intimate truth of Nayarit and Mexico; the Huichols, the Coras, the Tepehuanos, the Mexicaneros, all those who form the cultures of Nayarit.”

The Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) completed 5,200 housing actions, the updating of seven municipal urban development plans, 61 works and the regularization of 1,757 homes. The results of the Urban Improvement Program include the Plaza Monumento a la Madre and the City of Indigenous Arts of Nayarit.

The Alejandro Gascón Mercado irrigation district, managed by the National Defense Secretariat, will serve 43,105 hectares and will benefit 7,600 farmers. On September 1, the irrigation canal will total 511 kilometers, lined and piped; the overall progress is 98.96 percent. This irrigation district contributes 43 percent of the 100,000 hectares programmed at the national level in the administration.

Through the IMSS Bienestar Health Plan, the Government of Mexico began the replacement of the Tepic Civil Hospital, which began operations in 1954 and required modernization, so the works of what will be the Tepic General Hospital are currently being carried out.

The IMSS ordinary regime and IMSS Bienestar serve 1.3 million people, as a result of five priority medical infrastructure projects: General Hospital Zone No. 33, in Bahía de Banderas; the Women’s Hospital, in Tepic; the hemodynamics room at the General Hospital of Zone No. 1, in Tepic; the Community Hospital of Tuxpan and the General Hospital ‘Dr. Aquiles Calles Ramírez’, in Tepic.

The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) participates in the port of Boca de Chila, which serves as a starting point to the Islas Marías tourist complex. In order to promote tourism in the area, a 72-room hostel, swimming pool and restaurant were built. On July 27, 2022, construction began on the naval sector, Marine infantry battalion, housing unit, naval clinic, search and rescue station and a port work that includes three docks and the creation of a beach.

In 2022, the Islas Marías tourist complex began operations, a project also in charge of the Semar, which offers low environmental impact activities, such as guided tours that prioritize the preservation of the environment and the promotion of culture, which has earned it recognition and awards at the national level. Since its creation, it has received 8,000 tourists; soon there will be a direct flight from Tepic to Puerto Balleto.

The virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, affirmed that she will continue development and well-being in Nayarit. She made the commitment to execute the Las Varas-San Blas highway, the Tepic railway bypass, the Federación bridge and the Nayarit port.

President López Obrador and the next first president of Mexico have made nine weekend tours in the country. In the entity, Dr. Sheinbaum Pardo recalled that the Fourth Transformation recognizes indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples and guarantees the people’s rights to education, health and housing.

The head of the Executive highlighted the importance of the continuity of the 4T movement, as well as the Programs for Well-being and their expansion, for example, with the economic support to women from 60 to 64 years old before being beneficiaries of the Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults and the universal scholarship to students of basic education from preschool to high school.
