This growth is attributed to the summer vacations, according to Alejandra Iturbe Rosas, secretary of tourism of the capital. In July, 141,400 overnight tourists were registered, which generated an economic spillover of 274 million pesos. This income has significantly benefited local commerce, services and various businesses related to tourism.
The Historic Center of Querétaro continues to be the main point of attraction for visitors, although other areas such as Juriquilla, shopping malls and some natural areas have also gained popularity among national and foreign tourists.
The secretary of tourism announced that, by the end of August, the economic spillover is expected to reach 850 thousand pesos and the number of registered visitors will exceed 300 thousand, thus consolidating Querétaro as a prominent tourist destination in the country.
