The Ministry of Public Education has published the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. This calendar is essential for mothers, fathers, students and teaching staff, as it establishes the start and end dates of classes, as well as holidays, non-working days and vacation periods. This is a summary of the key dates and some important considerations for this, which is the second year in which Mexican preschool, primary and secondary school students have a new curriculum.
In a statement, the body responsible for education in Mexico indicated that the new school year will have 190 effective days of class, applicable to Basic Education schools in the 32 entities of the country. The start of classes for the 2024-2025 school year will be on Monday, August 26, and will end on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Prior to the start of classes, from August 19 to 23, 2024, the Intensive Phase of the School Technical Council (CTE) of each school will be held, in which the members review the learning objectives and strategies that the teaching staff will implement. In addition, on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23, the Participatory School Health Committee Session and the School Cleaning Days will take place.
Vacations and holidays
The calendar includes two vacation periods. The winter vacation, which will be from December 19, 2024 to January 8, 2025. And the Easter vacation, which will be from April 14 to 25 of next year. After the end of the school year, summer vacations continue, which will culminate with the return to school in 2025.
In addition to vacations, the calendar includes some holidays and long weekends. Unlike last year, this year students will be able to enjoy the celebrations of Mexico’s Independence with a well-deserved long weekend, since teaching activities will be suspended on Monday, September 16. The other days off from school are November 18, 2024; February 3, March 17, May 1, 5, and 15, 2025.
Evaluations and Report Card Delivery
Periodic evaluations and report card delivery are scheduled for the following periods:
Grade registration: November 22, 2024, as well as March 21 and July 11, 2025.
First evaluation report card delivery: November 25-28, 2024
Second Evaluation: March 25, 26, 27, and 31, 2025.
Third Evaluation: July 14-16, 2025.
Teacher Training and Education
The calendar also includes teacher training and education days. These are dates when teachers will be updated on new educational methodologies and strategies, ensuring quality education for all students. These will continue to be held on the last Friday of each month.
Pre-registration
The pre-registration period for preschool, first grade of primary school and first grade of secondary school for the 2025-2026 School Year will take place from February 4 to 7 and from February 10 to 14, 2025.
