Floyd Mayweather gets emotional and dances with a mariachi band on his arrival in Mexico City: “Mexico is a boxing pedigree”

Floyd Mayweather is, without a doubt, one of the already legendary characters in the history of boxing. And his arrival in Mexico City, where he will have an exhibition fight, had to be with the color of mariachis, ‘The Money’ dancing included, and excitement for knowing that he is loved in Mexican lands.

It will be this weekend, Saturday, August 24, that Floyd Mayweather vs John Gotti will be experienced, so the Mexican fans will be able to see the return of one of the great boxers, recognized for being one of the greatest exponents of defense in the ring.

This expectation was seen this Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the arrival of Mayweather, who arrived in the Mexican capital with mariachis who sang ‘Cielito Lindo’ to him, while the retired boxer began to sing and get excited.

“Mexico City is a great place, the whole country actually. Mexico is the pedigree of boxing. I’m happy that I can come here to show my talent. It’s truly amazing, as I said before, it’s the pedigree of boxing with so many legendary champions,” The Money told the media.

Mayweather faced Canelo Alvarez in his time
Floyd Mayweather Jr., one of the most controversial and talented boxers of all time, built part of his legacy facing some of the best Mexican boxers or of Mexican origin, such as Oscar de la Hoya or Saul Alvarez.

One of the most remembered fights was against Oscar de la Hoya (American of Mexican origin) in 2007, a fight that paralyzed the world. Mayweather, known for his impenetrable defense and speed, faced the charisma and power of the “Golden Boy”, which ended with a split decision victory for Floyd.

In 2013, undefeated Canelo Alvarez stepped into the ring to try to dethrone the American. The Guadalajara-born boxer was a young and hungry boxer, representing the future of ‘Aztec’ boxing. But Mayweather took a clear victory by unanimous decision.
