Due to the insecurity experienced in the region, as in other areas of the country, travel agencies in San Cristóbal are experiencing their worst moment, with a sales level of seven percent, denounced Linda Armas, president of the Chiapas Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies.
In a press conference, she announced that the hiring of this service has decreased because the presence of national and international tourism has decreased.
She mentioned that for more than five years they have been canceling contracts in agencies in San Cristóbal.
Factors
“Sales are very low due to the problem that Chiapas has with roadblocks, retention of vehicles, the problem that exists at the border. That is preventing the presence of tourism in the state,” mentioned Linda Armas.
Up to this moment, she specified, “we have a seven percent occupancy of sales by travel agencies in San Cristóbal de Las Casas.”
Finally, the president of the Association said that on the Palenque route, increased surveillance has been reported, as a patrol escorts the tourist vans going and returning.
