Another tourist dies after being swept away by strong waves on the beaches of Mazatlán

A new death of a national tourist was recorded on one of the beaches of Mazatlán due to strong waves. The victim, who was taken to land unconscious by a lifeguard in the Isla de la Piedra area, was identified as Serafín “N”, 68 years old and originally from the state of Michoacán.

This second death, which has been recorded so far this month, due to rip currents and strong waves, was reported by Red Cross personnel to the State Attorney General’s Office, given that the visitor did not respond to resuscitation.

According to the information released, the tourist’s son noticed that the current was pulling his father out to sea, so he asked for help from a lifeguard in the Isla de la Piedra area, who went into the sea and managed to get him to the beach unconscious.

A group of lifeguards initially gave him cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the pier, where he was transferred to the Red Cross delegation, where they tried to revive him without obtaining a response.

On August 8, a national tourist lost his life on one of the beaches of Mazatlán, despite the efforts of elements of the Navy who intervened to rescue three bathers who were swept away by rip currents.

The authorities identified the victim as Ramón Valerio “N”, 35 years old, originally from the state of Chihuahua, whose body was sent to a funeral home so that the judicial authorities could perform the legal autopsy.

According to the information provided, three national tourists went to bathe on the beach of the Golden Zone, they did not realize that the currents began to pull them out to sea, until they tried to return to land, despite their efforts they were unable to advance.

Near the scene were members of the Eighth Naval Zone who came to their aid, although they managed to get them to dry land, one of them did not react when the paramedics came to check them.

Last May, a tourist from the state of Jalisco, named Miguel “N”, died on the beach of Sábalo Uno after being pulled by strong currents, although members of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron managed to get them out, he died minutes later.
