This is what the Santa Fe station of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train looks like a few days after its inauguration

In a matter of days, the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador will inaugurate Section II of the Mexico – Toluca Interurban Train. The Santa Fe station will begin operations next Saturday, August 31. It will be the first station that will link Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

The El Insurgente train service will be extended to the western limits of CDMX. From Lerma (State of Mexico) there will already be service to Santa Fe, a station that will connect this town and will allow thousands of users to benefit from this expansion.

A few days before President López Obrador makes the inauguration, federal authorities released some images of what the Santa Fe station looks like, as well as the rest of Section III that will reach the Observatorio terminal.

Work at the Santa Fe station was intensified to have it ready for this weekend, when AMLO will perform the inauguration. After acknowledging that he will not have the complete work by the end of his term, López Obrador will only be able to deliver the El Insurgente train up to the first station that reaches Mexico City.

What does the Santa Fe station of the Mexico – Toluca Interurban Train look like?

During a morning press conference at the National Palace, personnel from the National Infrastructure Fund (Fonadin) shared details of how the Interurban Train work is progressing and what the Santa Fe station looks like.

At the end of July and beginning of August, they were carrying out speed and operation tests on the section of tracks, in order to guarantee the train service. As for the station’s façade, the federal government showed the finishes that the station already has, as well as the architectural style of what will be the terminal, provisionally.

It is noteworthy that in Section II, viaduct 4, the metal colony, the tunnel that will connect Edomex with CDMX and the Toluca portal are already completely completed, important areas where the train will be passing through when it begins operations.

According to the latest official images of the Santa Fe station, the finishing touches for the transit of trains can be seen. However, as for the corridors and access areas for users, personnel from the Secretariat of Works and Services are still working on it.

Through social networks, the user @SntVTC shared details of how the Santa Fe station currently looks. In the images that went viral on social networks, it can be seen that there are still unfinished finishes, in addition, it can be seen that there is still machinery parked around the station.

One detail that stands out is that some corridors for the use of passengers are unfinished, since they are missing protective railings, as well as the facades and roofs of the architectural style. On the other hand, the images do not show how the interior of the station looks, where users will get on and off.

According to federal authorities, the cost of the ticket to use the El Insurgente Train will range from 15 pesos and the maximum fare will be 90 pesos, depending on the number of trips made on board the Interurban Train.

Access to any of the stations, including the Santa Fe station, can be done using the Integrated Mobility Card or by purchasing the ticket at the ticket office to obtain a QR code and scan it at the station entrance.

As for the service hours of the Santa Fe station, they will remain from 06:00 to 23:00 hours, from Monday to Sunday.
