US issues travel warning to Sinaloa; recommends visiting Mazatlán, Los Mochis and Topolobampo

The United States government, through the State Department, has placed Sinaloa on its so-called ‘warning’, with the purpose of recommending government employees and citizens not to travel to that region in Mexico and to only visit three cities in the state.

Employees of the United States government can travel to Mazatlán only by air or sea, they are limited to the Golden Zone and the historic center of the city, and they must travel by direct routes between these destinations and the airport and the maritime terminal.

Likewise, Los Mochis and Topolobampo, says the official publication.

The publication issued on August 22 indicates that Sinaloa and the states of Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas are victims of organized crime and kidnapping.
