Cartels attack caravan of residents from the Sierra de Chiapas

A caravan of residents from communities in the border area forced by one of the organized crime groups to strengthen the roadblocks, were attacked by the opposing group when they were traveling on federal highway 190 near the community of San Gregorio Chamic, municipality of Frontera Comalapa.

The events occurred when the peasants, who were traveling aboard private trucks and motorcycles, threw homemade explosive devices at them from a drone, which crashed into a tree and exploded.

In this attack, no injuries or human losses were reported, however, residents reported that in the Emiliano Zapata community near the commercial area of ​​La Mesilla, a confrontation began between organized crime groups fighting over territory.

Forced displacement continues

Forced displacement continues in this area of ​​the southern state of the country, mainly in the communities of the municipality of Chicomuselo and Amatenango de la Frontera, who flee to Bella Vista, Huixtla, Motozintla and Comitán, to try to get to safety.

However, the blockades installed this Monday in the Sierra region where the population is used as a human barrier also remain, in Chicomuselo they are established on the Chicomuselo-Siltepec highway at the height of Cerecillo, the second on the Chicomuselo – ejido Jolentón road at the height of the cemetery, one more on the Lázaro Cárdenas – Piedra Labrada section, as well as on the Chicomuselo – La Concordia highway at the height of the Pablo L. Sidar village.

While on the Comalapa border, the inhabitants closed the passage on the Comalapa – Comitán border highway at the height of the Jocote intersection.
