The World Food Truck Festival returns to Mérida with international tastings and musical tributes

The World Food Truck Festival will offer gastronomic tastings of Argentine, Japanese, Italian, and American dishes, among others, at the Acueducto de Los Milagros in Mérida from September 5 to 8. Specifically, 14 food trucks will arrive in the regional capital in a ‘street food’ atmosphere, enlivened by musical tributes to bands such as Héroes del Silencio, Extremoduro, El Barrio, and Niña Pastori, as announced this Friday in a press conference in Mérida by the Tourism Delegate, Felipe González.

Additionally, González announced that on Sunday the 8th, late in the afternoon, a jury composed of people chosen by the city council will decide which of all the stalls, allowing attendees to obtain a kind of “gastronomic passport” without leaving Mérida, has the best product for sale to the public.

To open this event to a “broad population range,” there will also be activities for the little ones, such as a sing-along show at 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, a Disney Parade at the same time on Saturday the 7th, and the Zenon show on Sunday the 8th. For his part, the event producer, Antonio Salazar, expressed his desire for this event to “become part of Mérida’s cultural agenda year after year.” To this end, the event will return with new food trucks offering the public a diverse gastronomic selection ranging from Canadian bagels and urban Japanese food to specialties such as ‘pulled pork,’ Mexican tacos, fried plantains, and Cuban sandwiches.

The first tribute will be to Bon Jovi at 8:00 PM on Thursday the 5th, followed by tributes to Marea and Extremoduro at 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM on Friday; while tributes to Mecano, El Barrio, and Niña Pastori will take place on Saturday the 7th, closing the event on the 8th with a tribute to Héroes del Silencio at 9:30 PM.
