What to do in case of a canceled and delayed flight?

In the case of a cancelled or delayed flight, passengers have a series of minimum rights that must be respected by all airlines operating in the national territory, as indicated by the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).

If your flight was delayed for more than one hour, but less than four hours, the airline must provide at least discounts for subsequent flights to the same destination and/or food or drinks.

In the event that the flight was delayed for more than two hours, but less than four hours, the discount offered by the airline must not be less than 7.5% of the ticket value.

However, if your flight is delayed for more than four hours or was cancelled, the airline must offer you one of the following options:

A refund of the ticket price, plus compensation that cannot be less than 25% of the flight value.

A seat on the first available flight, food and, if applicable, lodging and ground transportation to and from the airport.

A ticket for the same destination at a later date, plus compensation that cannot be less than 25% of the ticket price.

It is worth mentioning that these are the minimum obligations of the airlines, however, each of them has its own compensations that you should consult depending on the case.

Profeco is present at each airport, including AICM. Contact them if you need information about any irregularities regarding your flight and the airline.
