‘El Pelón’ leads the Sinaloa Cartel in Guanajuato

Javier Ramírez Morales, alias ‘El Pelón’, leads the most active cell of the Sinaloa Cartel in the state of Guanajuato. This is confirmed by drug trafficking specialists, who say that it has become strong in two municipalities: Salamanca and Irapuato.

But these are not the only territories in which the hitmen of the Sinaloa Cartel maintain an open war with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) led by ‘El Mencho’ and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel led by ‘El Marro’ from the Altiplano prison.

Security specialists point out that the Sinaloa Cartel continues its advance in Guanajuato and has extended its activities in cities in the industrial corridor. Its tactic is to form alliances with small groups of local criminals to confront the firepower of the CJNG.

The operations of the Sinaloa Cartel, until now under the orders of ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, recently captured in an operation in which he was apparently ‘sold’ by Los Chapitos, have focused on the state of Guanajuato in opening new drug marketing routes, as its operations have focused on trying to control four of the most important cities in the state: León, Irapuato, Celaya and Salamanca.

In their war against the CJNG, the hitmen of the Sinaloa Cartel have expanded their field of action in the state in recent years and currently have a presence in the following municipalities, with Irapuato and Salamanca as strong points: León, Silao, San Francisco del Rincón, Pénjamo, Abasolo, Apaseo el Grande, Apaseo el Alto and Celaya.
