A Durango high school is involved in controversy after it reported that items confiscated from students were destroyed and burned, including cell phones. It is the Professor José Santos Valdez Nueva State High School in the Valle Verde neighborhood of Durango, located on Las Flores Boulevard.

The photographs began to go viral on Monday, as the high school’s own account reported the destruction and burning in accordance with regulations.

On its Facebook page, it was shared that honors were held for the flag on September 9, and announcements and events that the high school will have were disseminated, such as the call for the election of the student society. However, in the publication, which has already been deleted, it was reported about the burning and destruction of items confiscated from students.

“We also carried out the burning and destruction of confiscated items that are prohibited in the school regulations, which all parents accepted and gave their consent to. We are starting another week of work, I wish everyone success in their daily activities,” said the post signed by director Hilda Patricia Ortega Nájera. So far, the Durango Education Department has not issued any statement on what happened.
