Bags and cards stolen from a luxury hotel in Los Cabos; there are several cases

Reportan robo en hotel de Los Cabos; hay varios casos

A woman named Sara García reported through her TikTok account the theft of her and her family’s belongings inside the RIU Santa Fe Hotel located in Los Cabos, in the state of Baja California.

“We are staying at the Riu Santa Fe Hotel in Los Cabos. My family and I went out to dinner, we went to a white party that the hotel is doing and when we returned to the room there was nothing…”, Sara explained on her social network.

According to the information shared by the victim of the robbery, the criminals entered the room when the family went out to dinner at a party organized by the same hotel.

Then, in the story she explains that when she and her family returned to their rooms there was “nothing” left, as they took everything from bags to wallets and other personal items.

In addition, she indicated that the RIU Hotel did not take responsibility for the stolen items, while its staff simply limited themselves to sharing a form for them to fill out… and even made fun of them.

Are robberies ‘customary’?

RIU hotels are a world-renowned chain because it has more than 90 hotels in America, Asia, Europe and Africa, among which there are several in Mexico… where other robberies have been reported.

Through the thousands of comments on the video, Internet users regretted what happened and shared their own experiences inside a hotel of the same chain in the national territory.

“I am very sorry about what happened, but it is already normal in that Riu Santa Fe Los Cabos Hotel, on July 11, 2024 they also robbed me there, and when I told the staff they only gave me that sheet and they also made fun of me,” commented one affected person.

Some pointed out that it is something ‘normal’ that happens in this type of hotels, while others claim that they have even had their safe opened and in no case is the RIU Hotels chain responsible.

In addition, among the comments there are people who claim that they have been ‘lucky’ enough to be inside the room when an unknown person enters their room without permission.

“I just went on September 14 and a man broke into our room at 4 in the morning when my mother and I were alone. They didn’t give any explanation and only offered a room change and more ‘security,'” said one of the victims.

So far, the Spanish hotel chain has not commented on the robbery at its Los Cabos location or the many others reported on social media.
