Wave of violence leaves 55 dead in Sinaloa and 60 in Nuevo Leon in 11 days

The confrontation between the groups of “Los Chapitos” and “El Mayito Flaco” has left at least 55 dead in just 11 days in Sinaloa, but in Nuevo Leon, where Governor Samuel Garcia claims to have a shield against organized crime, 60 murders were recorded in the same period.

After weeks of tension derived from the kidnapping in Culiacan and the capture in the United States of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada on July 27, by Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who also turned himself in to the American authorities, violence broke out on September 9 within the Sinaloa Cartel.

The confrontations between hitmen of the sons of “El Chapo” and Ismael Zambada Sicairos, son of “El Mayo”, have resulted in shootouts and executions that have claimed the lives of three women and two soldiers.

According to officially registered homicides in Sinaloa, 55 murders were recorded as of Thursday, but at the same time, organized crime activity also hit Nuevo León.

According to official figures, Nuevo León accumulated 60 murders in the same period.
