Clashes in Chihuahua, indirectly related to the ‘culiacanazo’

Enfrentamientos en Chihuahua, relación indirecta con el ‘culiacanazo’

Regarding the violence that occurred in Sinaloa, after the arrest of “El Mayo” Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, Gilberto Loya, Secretary of Security, said that they indirectly impact Chihuahua, since they are part of the groups that are currently fighting against the opposition, so in our state, according to the Attorney General, César Jáuregui, we maintain a constant alert.

“We have already taken the necessary measures, knowing that there is a probable risk that this could happen, since the legal processes began more than a month ago when these two criminals appeared on a plane in the neighboring country. We understood the probability of an impact that this could have on this side of the border,” said Gilberto Loya.

“We commented on it, that even though it was not immediate, we knew that a confrontation of this type could occur in the region. That is why we did it together with the Sedena, the National Guard and

the Attorney General’s Office to seal off the entire border we have with Guadalupe y Calvo and the municipalities on the Sinaloa side, or better known as the “golden triangle,” where we maintain a permanent presence,”
he added.

He pointed out that this would have an indirect relationship with acts of violence in Ojinaga and Coronado, which in total have already left 30 dead in these bloody confrontations between antagonistic groups and due to fractures within the organizations themselves.

“We know that there is a link, not a direct one, but we are talking about transnational gangs with a presence throughout the country. That means that they are related, but not directly in the same decision, but they do belong to these gangs that fight each other,” he said.

For his part, the Attorney General emphasized that they are on permanent alert for these events and agreed that due to the influence that this cartel has throughout the territory, this has influenced events, but denied that there is a conflict directly related to the “culiacanazo.”

“We are always on alert, I insist, there is still no issue that we can derive from the conflict that is currently taking place in Culiacán, which is a confrontation between Los Chapitos and El Mayo’s people. We do not have events related to that conflict, however it is evident that perhaps the fact that in Culiacán and the Sinaloa Cartel being such an important group and with influence in other states, some could be taking advantage of the situation to explore other territories, but derived from that conflict there is no event in Chihuahua at this time,” said Jáuregui.
