Clashes in Sinaloa leave two dead; traffic is restored on the Mazatlán-Durango highway

This Friday, September 27, on the 19th day of the wave of violence in Sinaloa, clashes were reported in Mazatlán, Elota and Culiacán, which left two people dead, 11 vehicle thefts and seven illegal deprivations of liberty.

According to the State Public Security Secretariat, a confrontation occurred in Concordia, when members of the National Guard who were traveling on a country road in the town of Tecomate in the direction of Siqueros (Mazatlán), were attacked with bullets by the occupants of an SUV.

The National Guard repelled the attack and shot down two of the attackers, who were left inside a burning vehicle, after the gas tank was hit by one of the bullets and immediately caught fire.

The State Public Security Secretariat also reported two other clashes between alleged armed groups in the town of Vida Campesina, in the municipality of Elota; and another one in the district of Higueras de Abuya, in the municipality of Culiacán.
