The 10 crew members of the tourist yacht named “Regacsa” were rescued by a boat known as “Pura Suerte” after the ship began to sink during a tour of the island of Espiritu Santo after hitting a rock near a small islet identified as “La Partida.”

The events that occurred on the night of September 27 were reported to the Port Captaincy of the La Paz marina, after all the travelers were safe on dry land. According to the security report, the ten crew members had set sail from the destination of Los Cabos to sail to Espiritu Santo where they suffered the accident.

The sunken vessel is a state-of-the-art maritime transport, with a commercial value of between 40 and 60 million pesos. The ship was partially submerged in the waters of the island, before being attended to by personnel from the Mexican Navy and Navy (SEMAR) who activated a rescue operation in the contingency area.

According to unofficial information, the captain of the “Regacsa” lost his way due to not knowing the perimeter of the island well, and when trying to correct the path he headed towards a rocky space that stopped the ship’s course. In the middle of the darkness, the crew of the ship that went to the rescue heard the emergency cries of the people on board the yacht to provide them with assistance.

The “Regacsa” was stranded for several minutes before the SEMAR brigades reached it to prevent the current from continuing to drag it to the bottom of the sea. Several boats from tourist service providers also supported the preventive actions to pull the yacht away from the nautical polygon of Espíritu Santo. No injuries were reported during the incident, except for the damage sustained by the luxury yacht.
