Taxi driver murdered and his vehicle set on fire in Tulum

The victim was identified as a member of the “Tiburones del Caribe” union.

A driver affiliated with the Tiburones del Caribe union was murdered and his taxi set on fire near the intersection leading to the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport.

According to the information obtained, the public transport vehicle was set on fire after its driver received several gunshots, which occurred at midnight on Thursday.

Emergency services from the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto arrived at the scene after receiving a report of a vehicle on fire on Federal Highway 307, in the Muyil – Airport junction section.

Authorities report that the taxi driver may have been murdered at the same location.

Upon arrival, authorities confirmed that it was a taxi belonging to the Tiburones del Caribe union, whose driver was already deceased and showed clear signs of having been murdered at the scene.

Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office also arrived to begin the pertinent investigations and remove the body. This incident marks the third murder of a taxi driver from that union in September.
