Elements of the National Guard destroyed a new marijuana plantation discovered in the state of Jalisco, with an area of approximately 13 thousand square meters.
The plantations were located during a security and crime prevention patrol in the community of Platanito, in the municipality of San Martín de Bolaños; in the region, the elements of the National Guard detected two fields of cultivation in which plants with the characteristics of marijuana stood out.
The first plantation had an estimated area of 9,500 square meters; while the second was approximately 4,200 square meters. Although a security operation was implemented in the vicinity to try to arrest those responsible, no one was identified.
After notifying the competent authorities, the agents of the National Guard proceeded to destroy and incinerate the marijuana plants, with authorization from the Public Ministry agency.
Jalisco among marijuana plantations
On September 18, the National Guard destroyed other marijuana plantations discovered in San Martín de Bolaños, a region that lies on the border between Jalisco, Zacatecas and Nayarit.
On that occasion, three plantations were identified in the community of Rancho Viejo and with an extension of 13 thousand square kilometers, divided into a first plot of 1,300 square meters, a second of 4,700 and the last of approximately 7,000 square meters.
At the beginning of this September, a patrol of the National Guard detected marijuana plants up to two meters high that were hidden in the upper area of the community of San Miguel de Abajo, municipality of Ixtlahuacán del Río.
The drugs had been planted in three plots that together reached 600 square meters. Unofficially, it was reported that the drugs could be part of the criminal structure of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), assumptions that gain strength due to the area where they were detected, close to safe houses dismantled in operations of the Armed Forces in the state.
Twenty-five minutes away from San Miguel de Abajo is the community of San Antonio de los Vázquez, where on December 25 the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministerial Police raided a home linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
In the property they found three vehicles, three long weapons, 14 magazines, 199 cartridges, 21 tactical vests, five bags with marijuana, 14 ballistic plates and seven cases; in addition to a jaguar and a tiger cub.
