Mexico-Pachuca Train to Launch This Weekend; Puebla-Veracruz Route to be Revived

At least six railway routes will be developed during President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s administration.

This weekend, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will inaugurate the Mexico-Pachuca passenger train from the state of Hidalgo as part of her plans to boost railway routes across the Republic.

In her first speech as president at the Zócalo in Mexico City, Sheinbaum announced 3,000 kilometers of new railway lines to the north on the Buenavista-AIFA and Pachuca-Tizayuca routes, as well as the extension of the Maya Train to Puerto Progreso, Yucatán.

Some of the other routes to be developed during this administration include:

  • Mexico City – Querétaro
  • San Luis Potosí – Saltillo
  • Monterrey – Nuevo Laredo
  • Querétaro – Guadalajara – Nogales
  • Tepic – Culiacán – Mazatlán – Hermosillo
  • Mexico – Puebla – Veracruz

Extending Railways to the Southern Border; Expanding International Bridges with the US

With the presence of Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo, President Sheinbaum Pardo announced the extension of the Interoceanic Train, which runs from Oaxaca to Veracruz, to the southern border with Guatemala.

“In the Interoceanic Train, we will complete line K (…) It will reach the border, and we will help Guatemala to continue this project,” said President Sheinbaum.

She also added that international bridges located on the Mexico-US border will be expanded in coordination with President Joe Biden’s administration and the next administration.
