The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, highlights the financing programs “Your idea, your business”, “Traditional Entrepreneurship” and “Entrepreneurship” that provide financial support from 10 thousand to 500 thousand pesos, with the purpose of strengthening the operation of formal Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the state, which allows businesses to invest in their working capital, equipment and infrastructure.

The state governor invites all interested individuals or corporations who have a company formally established in Baja California and are registered with the SAT to participate. These programs are managed through the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI) and work as follows:

  • “Your idea, your business” channels loans from 10 thousand to 50 thousand pesos, at 8% annual interest on outstanding balances, and the financing term is 12 or 18 months according to the technical and financial analysis.
  • “Traditional Entrepreneurship” supports with amounts from 51 thousand pesos to 200 thousand pesos, at an 8% annual rate and financing terms of 12, 18 or 24 months according to the project and the minimum age of the business must be 12 months registered with the SAT.
  • “Business Entrepreneurship” offers from 201 thousand pesos to 500 thousand pesos, with terms of 12 to 36 months and a preferential rate of 8% annually, in businesses with a minimum age of 24 months with the SAT.

According to the SEI, from January to September 2024, 108 loans have been granted for an amount of 37.5 million pesos (mdp), highlighting that 42% of the loans correspond to women. These resources have facilitated the creation of 251 jobs, the preservation of 348 and 218 self-employment.

Applications are received through the portal
https://www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/sei/ReactivaBC and in the Citizen Service offices of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation in the different localities of the state, where they can receive information and guidance on the program.

Among the requirements for interested entrepreneurs, the application forms, identity documents, proof of address, photographs of the business, tax identification card, tax returns, bank statements, quotes and power of attorney must be presented.

They can also go to the SEI offices located in Mexicali in the La Plazita Shopping Center, in Tijuana in the Technological Consortium, in Ensenada and Rosarito in the Government Center, in Tecate on Blvd. Defensores 53, Col. La Viñita, while in San Felipe the office is at Mar de Cortés 614 in La Placita, and in San Quintín in Plaza Melina, located on Calle Benito Juárez 108.
