This Tuesday, the temporary passage was enabled in the two roadblocks registered in the town of El Pénjamo, municipality of Coyuca de Benítez, resuming communication on the federal highway Acapulco-Zihuatanejo, at least provisionally.
Since Monday, heavy machinery began repair work in the affected area, forming a temporary passage with earth for both vehicles and pedestrians.
After a series of tests carried out during the morning of this Tuesday, the authorities determined that the vehicular passage was safe, allowing the reactivation of traffic while the definitive reconstruction work is carried out on the highway section.
Elements of State Traffic and the National Guard, Roads Division, remain in place to supervise the flow of traffic and guarantee the safety of motorists who travel on the affected road.
This provisional step represents temporary relief for residents and transporters who depend on this important road, although work is expected to continue in the coming days to fully restore the infrastructure damaged by the effects of storm John.
