Blue Alert in Isla Mujeres due to Approaching Tropical Storm “Milton”

Blue Alert declared in Isla Mujeres due to the approach of tropical storm Milton to our coasts and the municipality is reinforcing the work of removing junk in view of the forecast of more rain.

Removing the useless junk, in addition to preventing breeding grounds for mosquitoes that transmit dengue and other vector-borne diseases, will prevent them from becoming projectiles in the event of an increase in wind strength.

The nautical community is keeping abreast of the bulletins and warnings issued by the maritime authority, although for the moment the conditions are favorable for navigation, the sea is calm and both service providers and fishermen are carrying out their daily activities normally.

Chastened by the consequences of not having protected their boats against the onslaught of hurricane “Helene”, which left at least 20 tourist boats affected to a greater or lesser extent, on this occasion they will be on the lookout to protect their boats if necessary.

It is expected that Civil Protection, now with a more efficient head than the previous one, will take the preventive actions that correspond to this type of phenomena, specifically maintenance of the bilge pumps of the Salinas and the center, so that, if required to put them into operation, they work without any problem.

It is also expected that priority will be given to cleaning the storm drains in order to keep them clear of trash and in this way, avoid puddles and flooding due to accumulation of rainwater.
