Violence even affects the Mazatlán Bus Station

In the face of the violence in Sinaloa, the demand for tickets at the Mazatlán Bus Station has decreased by 30 percent in the last week.

Employees of the different bus lines commented that the most affected routes are Durango, Torreón, Chihuahua and Culiacán.

María, a ticket seller, said that the decrease in the number of passengers has been felt since last Friday with the blockade of the Durango-Mazatlán highway.

She commented that they travel for very necessary reasons, but not for vacations, people do not feel safe due to the situation of violence that the state has been experiencing for weeks.

“Since the blockade, people are no longer traveling to those states, nor are people coming for fear of the blockades, here the drop in passengers has been felt a lot,” she said.

She pointed out that of 190 daily routes of different lines, 30 percent have stopped, mainly Chihuahuense, Estrella Blanca and Omnibús de México due to lack of demand.

They hope that the situation will soon improve, as the various truck lines are concerned that although the roads have been quiet in recent days, they are still in a state of uncertainty.
