Violence in Mazatlán is localized, not everywhere

In Mazatlán, violence is concentrated in some areas, not in the entire city, said Eduardo Dávalos Zamora, executive secretary of the Municipal Public Security Council.

“We have been very attentive to the coordination and I think that as Mazatlan residents we have to contribute a little, stay calm and not pay attention to rumors. The truth is that we have not been affected, that does not mean that nothing happens, it does happen, but at the end of the day they have been very focused events, he considered.

He pointed out that in this wave of violence they have been in contact with the three levels of government in terms of security, and are aware of the coordination that is being carried out.

Dávalos Zamora acknowledged that although there have been outbreaks of violence in the outskirts of Mazatlan, the urban area remains in a better situation than in other cities in the state.

The Municipal Council of Public Security in Mazatlan will also propose the modification of regulations to make police work more efficient.

Prior to a meeting with Mayor Edgar Gonzalez, the executive secretary of the CMSP said that this approach is for a better operation, and gave the Breathalyzer as an example.

“We want to make police work more efficient. We are currently working on creating regulations to regulate police activity. In this case, we would be talking about the Breathalyzer Regulation,” he said.

He explained that this operation is derived from the Police and Good Government Order, but there are certain factors that are not foreseen, which are operational issues.
