Mazatlán-Durango Highway Closed After Reported Clash in El Batel, Concordia

The Capufe account on X reported the closure to address an “incident” at kilometer 165 of the toll highway.

Following reports of a clash between armed civilians in the community of El Batel, part of the municipality of Concordia, Caminos y Puentes Federales announced the total closure of the Mazatlán-Durango highway.

Around noon this Saturday, Capufe’s account on X (formerly Twitter) informed that vehicle passage has been restricted from the toll booths at Mesillas in Concordia and Coscomate in Pueblo Nuevo, Durango, due to an “incident” at kilometer 165.

Highway Closure:

The closure affects both directions, meaning it impacts travelers heading to Durango as well as those traveling to Sinaloa via the toll road, aiming to protect the safety of users.

A severe clash between armed civilians was reported to authorities by residents of the Concordia mountains, in the community near the El Sinaloense Tunnel. So far, no fatalities have been reported.

This marks the second consecutive day of clashes in the Concordia mountains, following a confrontation between armed civilians in La Petaca on Friday, which resulted in five deaths.

Capufe has urged drivers to stay informed about the reopening of the highway through official channels or by calling 088, the National Guard’s highway division number.
