Feliciano R., a man nicknamed El Cuza, was arrested. He was linked in various reports to a cell of the Sinaloa Cartel. The image of a man who is presumed to be the recently arrested person began to circulate on social media.
The first reports on social media indicated the capture of a man named Javier Feliciano, but after a review in the National Registry of Arrests (RND) of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSyPC), Infobae Mexico confirmed the arrest of the aforementioned man, who is registered with the nickname El Cuza.
At the time of his arrest he had an injury to his left leg, which is why he was wearing a bandage. The arrest was made on Sunday, October 6, however, no further details are known about the specific location, although preliminary reports indicate that it was in Sonoyta.
“El Cuza” is identified in military intelligence files
It should be noted that files from the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) leaked by the Guacamaya collective record the name of said person as a man linked to Los Salazar, the latter a cell linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
Military reports indicate that El Cuza and/or Cuaza is a man who operated in Sonora, identified as a drug and migrant trafficker, as can be seen in a file obtained by the media El Sol de México.
For his part, journalist Héctor de Mauleón published a column in October 2022 in which he refers to military reports. The communicator detailed that El Kuza is the son-in-law of Adelmo Nieblas, alias El G3 and who is indicated as responsible for the trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine, in addition to being a plaza boss in Caborca and Sonoyta.
Reports indicate that El Cuza is a man who led the Los Salazar group. Official records indicate that the detained man is white-skinned and has short brown hair, and that he has a regular build and height. At the time of his capture he was wearing a khaki jacket and gray pants, which matches the images circulating on social media.
Military reports identify Los Salazar as a criminal group that has been operating since 2055, involved in the planting, production, and trafficking of narcotics. At the time, the leader of the criminal cell was Adán Salazar Zamora, a subject nicknamed Don Adán, who was extradited to the United States on August 20, 2023.
The Salazars are identified as an armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel and at least until 2019 they were identified as one of the 10 most relevant groups for the criminal group, the group is linked to the murder of journalist Miroslava Breach and the disappearance of journalist Alfredo Jiménez Mota.
For his part, Don Adán is identified as the founder of Los Salazar. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) highlighted that “Adán “S” is identified as the leader of a criminal group responsible for trafficking large quantities of cocaine from Mexico to the United States.”
News reports indicate that the Sinaloa Cartel is currently fragmented after the capture in the United States of Israel El Mayo Zambada. The factions of Los Chapitos (led by the sons of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán) and El Mayo Zambada are the ones behind the violence in Culiacán, Sinaloa, which began on September 9.
The arrest of Ismael Zambada is said to be the result of an alleged betrayal by Joaquín Guzmán López, who was also captured in the United States.
