Hurricane Milton Causes Severe Damage to the Progreso Boardwalk: VIDEO

The area of the Progreso pier and the tourist walkway suffered material damage due to the waves caused by Hurricane Milton.

The intense waves caused by Hurricane Milton, which passed near Progreso as a Category 5 storm, destroyed the tourist walkway known as the Muelle de Chocolate and caused severe damage by the morning of Tuesday, October 8.

The wooden boards of the tourist walkway located on the Progreso boardwalk suffered material damage due to the strong gusts of wind caused by Hurricane Milton.

Various areas, mainly in the walkway area, had broken and lifted boards, as well as benches around this tourist space that were also damaged.

Other damaged areas include the famous playón, where the sea entered and dragged several boats that were docked there to avoid damage.

Since Monday night, the sea began to enter the streets of Progreso, causing flooding in coastal areas, while authorities remain on site assessing the damage.

So far, there is no report on the extent of the damage in Progreso, and it is expected that state and municipal authorities will provide more information throughout the day.
