Hurricane Milton Halts Crossing to Cozumel: Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal Suspended

The closure of the port in Playa del Carmen due to Hurricane Milton has significantly affected tourism service providers.

With the port closed to navigation due to Milton’s passage through the Yucatán Peninsula, crossing conditions at the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal remain suspended until further notice. This suspension impacts tourism service providers, who have to “bear” this drop in activities.

Tourism service provider Charlie E. indicated that the bad weather has led to cancellations of aquatic tours, and they are only operating at 30 percent capacity so far in October.

Meanwhile, locals reported that Hurricane Milton, which eventually downgraded in category, was mild, and its path was as predicted.

Additionally, beach area restaurants and bars remained closed due to the absence of beachgoers.

Finally, the shipping companies made a polite request to citizens to stay tuned to their official pages for updates on when the crossing to the island might resume.
