Isla Mujeres Announces the Luz y Vida ‘Between the Living and the Dead 2024’ Festival

The municipal president of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, presented the program for the fourth edition of the Luz y Vida ‘Between the Living and the Dead’ Festival.

This festival is organized by the Directorate of Culture with the aim of keeping traditions alive. Therefore, the mayor extended an invitation to all local families and visitors to join the Luz y Vida ‘Between the Living and the Dead 2024’ Festival, which highlights the cultural richness of the region and showcases Isla Mujeres as an authentic Pueblo Mágico.

It is worth mentioning that the invited artists for this edition are Myriam Montemayor and Kika Edgar, who will delight attendees with their performances.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday, October 30, at the Municipal Esplanade, which will be illuminated with the essence of the “Night of Traditions” festivities, featuring exhibitions of island altars, artistic dance and singing performances, and the Bread of the Dead and Chocolate Fair.

On Thursday, October 31, there will be a “Trick or Treat” tour, the Monster Fair with a children’s show, games, and costume contests, as well as musical and singing performances.

On Friday, November 1, the “Hanal Pixán, Night of Youth” will take place, featuring an altar exhibition contest, PIB contest, and the Jarana de las Ánimas.

To conclude with a flourish on November 2, during the “Night of the Souls,” there will be the “Walking Among the Dead” parade, as well as Catrinas and Drag Catrinas contests, dances, and the stellar performances of Myriam Montemayor and Kika Edgar.

“In this way, the municipal government of Isla Mujeres promotes and preserves traditions to show the world the magic that has persisted for years in the area, enriching the cultural heritage of the region,” it was stated in a press conference.
