PAN Accuses Quintana Roo Governor of Tolerating Land Invasions in Cancún and Tulum for 4T Groups

The PAN Parliamentary Group, through federal deputy Ernesto Sánchez Rodríguez, accused the Morena governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinoza, of tolerating land invasions in Cancún and Tulum for 4T (Fourth Transformation) groups, where the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) also participates by “facilitating” electricity systems.

In a statement, it was indicated that this situation causes some blackouts in various areas of Cancún and the Riviera Maya, according to complaints from residents shared on the deputy’s social media.

“Enough of crude excuses, empty arguments, and negligence. The Federal Electricity Commission has become a ‘Frankenstein’ and does not resolve issues; we demand that President Sheinbaum prioritize this matter,” emphasized Sánchez Rodríguez.

The legislator focused his criticisms on the Morena state government and denied that the CFE maintains investment in infrastructure and its energy distribution system to improve service in the state.

“We call on the Federation to, together with the state government, not tolerate invasions and to build a budget for the next year and invest in improving housing schemes and electricity service,” he reiterated.

Sánchez Rodríguez added that people are very upset because there are episodes where the power is cut off for minutes and then returns, but this happens up to three or four times a day without any explanation from the company, while irregular settlements always have electricity.

He said that, at the time, former director Manuel Bartlett Díaz was not interested in fixing open records. For example, in several streets of municipalities in this state, knowing that they represent a risk.

“Today, as a federal deputy, I urge the new CFE administration to strengthen its brigades and address all citizen complaints,” he pointed out.

He added that beyond the poor service, the rates are higher in Quintana Roo than in Yucatán, which is attributed to the lack of adequate billing criteria and the absence of a socioeconomic study.

“The government thinks that, because there is a higher concentration of tourism in Quintana Roo, there is more money, but that is not the case; there are very popular areas here that are overlooked.

“We agree that there is no political will from the Federal Government to address this situation. The business sector has demanded that the Federal Government manage the regulation of rates, but Morena has opposed and not addressed the request,” he pointed out.

The federal deputy said that anything related to the PAN or the opposition, even if they are serious and solid proposals, always faces rejection.

“For example, the CFE has been negligent in the problem in Playa del Carmen, where there are open records that represent mortal risks,” he argued.

“And the human settlements use illegal connections, coupled with the lack of infrastructure, increasing blackouts. The CFE has not had the capacity or willingness to solve these circumstances,” he concluded.
