What is the Tabasco New Generation Cartel, the alleged criminal organization that promises to “go against the scum” without mercy

It is presumed that their area of operation is in the municipalities of Jalpa and Macuspana.

With high-caliber weapons, tactical equipment, and masked faces, members of what appears to be a new criminal organization with a presence in Tabasco territory, the Tabasco New Generation Cartel (CTNG), have shown themselves.

Through a video that was spread on social media on Saturday, October 5, members of this organization issued a message directed at the state Public Security Secretariat (SSP), accusing the police of allegedly killing “innocent” people.

“Good afternoon, people of Tabasco. Today, Saturday in October 2024, we inform the SSP that there is no fear here, only respect for the government. But if they continue to act like scum, handing people over to the scum and killing innocents, as it happens,” said one of the masked individuals speaking on behalf of the group.

In the video, which lasts less than a minute, it is also warned that there is no truce between criminal groups in the state, and the CTNG members said they are willing to engage in armed confrontations.

“And to all that scum that only knows how to kill innocents, we want you to know that we are waiting for you. Stick your head out, there is no truce with the scum or the traitors,” warned one of the armed individuals.

The same spokesperson added that they are not afraid to die and indicated that they will go against all those who “support the scum,” referring to an opposing group whose name was not mentioned. At the end of the video, this individual sent a message to the residents of Jalpa and Macuspana, where the CTNG is presumed to have a presence.

“Jalpa, Macuspana, if the government does nothing, we will gladly act. Pure CTNG: Tabasco New Generation Cartel.”

The CTNG refers to another drug trafficking organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias ‘El Mencho’: the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). It is unknown if there is a link or connection between the two groups.

This is the first video that the CTNG has made public, so there are no records of their presence in the state of Tabasco. However, it is presumed to operate in the municipality of Macuspana, where former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) was born.

So far, Tabasco authorities have not confirmed the presence of the CTNG in the state, so their current leader is not identified.

In addition to the CTNG and the CJNG, a group known as La Barredora also operates in Tabasco. Their main areas of operation are Comalcalco, Cárdenas, and Paraíso.
